The Bowden + Sheffield iPad cases are currently being featured on the funding website Kickstarter, where it is advertised to protect the iPad without sacrificing its design and feel.
According to its creators, both the Bowden and the Sheffield cases were built to take a beating, while staying sleek. Both cases measures at 10.875 x 8.5-inches with a thickness of only .75-inches. It will fit both the iPad 2 and the new iPad and will come equipped with a magnetic closure system to keep the iPad secure. Any iPad that sports the Smart Cover will be able to use the Bowden + Sheffield cases by simply lying the Smart Cover underneath the Bowden or Sheffield covers.
The Bowden is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and features a walnut or cherry hardwood finish. It also has a black or brown full-grain, chrome-tanned leather cover.
The Sheffield is made of milled polycarbonate with a finish of walnut or cherry hardwood and features a cover made out of wool felt. Those who purchase the Sheffield case will also be able to use the case as a dry-erase board.
The project is about 60% funded with less than a week left. It’s a few thousand dollars short, so if you’re looking to purchase the cases or just looking to help the creators out, be sure to head over to their Kickstarter page.
