While we are expected to see a handful of glasses-free 3D tablets during the CES showcase this week in Las Vegas, it appears Hong Kong exporter Brando has beat the pack with its Gadmei T863 tablet.
The Android 2.3 Gingerbread-powered slate sports an 8-inch 1280 x 768 lenticular LCD touchscreen and packs a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor. Equipped with 3D image processing silicon, the tablet allows for glasses-free viewing of 3D content, supporting both common MPO 3D videos, as well as H.264 videos encoded with left-right views and a specific file name prefix. The Wi-Fi only device features a VGA .3MP front-facing camera and ships with 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a microSDHC card slot.
Retailing for $199, the Gadmei T863 joins the price ranks of the Amazon Kindle Fire. While Brando’s offering may not be as fast as the Fire, the T863 tablet does feature a higher resolution and a camera, which the Amazon slate lacks. The Gadmei T863 is currently available on the Brando website.
