TouchPad at HP's webOS EventNews has trickled out of Taiwan that, based on information from HP’s component partners, the HP TouchPad could start shipping in late March and selling in April.

HP revealed the TouchPad at a webOS event earlier this month, and at the time announced a summer release. A later leak narrowed the date range, slating the TouchPad for June.

News about the possibility of this significantly earlier April release comes from DigiTimes, a publication that has proven at times to be unreliable, but which also has demonstrated connections with sources in the Taiwanese components sector.

The leak also contained a note that HP internally forecasted the TouchPad to ship 4-5 million units. If shipments translate to sales in this case, it would be a feat for the TouchPad to move so many units.

Whenever the TouchPad becomes available, it is expected to first come in a Wi-Fi only configuration, currently rumored to retail at $699, with a 3G/4G model to follow.
