The Latitude XT Tablet PC is finally available for ordering. Just this afternoon Dell released the product page on their website, so now consumers can start customizing and placing those tablet orders. The prices are still hefty, but I am sure that won’t stop all the Dell fans from ordering Dell’s first ever tablet.
The starting price is $2,499 and that will get you the Core Solo processor, 1GB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive and Windows XP Tablet Edition as the OS. For those users who like to go above and beyond the norm, Dell is also offering a customization link where the tablet can be built how you like. Now we are talking about expensive. The top of the line Latitude XT with the Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of RAM, SSD hard drive, 9-cell slice battery and every option possible will cost you almost $5,000.
I think I would just stick with Dell’s preconfigured system and just upgrade the processor, RAM and battery. Therefore the price is still under $3,000 and you have better performance, more memory and longer battery life. This way you will truly have a lightweight, ultraportable tablet.
The product page has links to everything you need. There is information on services and warranties, all the accessory options, tech specs and a complete overview of the XT tablet and what Dell has to offer. Orders are being taken now and are expected to start shipping in mid-January.
