Dell has confirmed what many already knew; the Dell Streak will cost $300 with a two-year AT&T contract and $550 without. Also, Dell will begin selling the Google Android tablet/smartphone this Friday, August 13th on the Dell website. Those that signed up for the pre-sale can place their order on Thursday, the 12th.
A Tablet and a Phone
It features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, WiFi, Bluetooth, integrated Google maps, 5 MP camera, front-facing video camera, and ships with Google Android 1.6.
It has 2GB of internal storage and a microSD slot expandable to 32GB. Unlike other Android tablets on the market, the Dell Streak has direct access to the Google Android Market.
Early Reviews Positive
Early Dell Streak reviews have been very positive, and that’s despite the device running the older version of Android.
Brighthand’s JR Nelson claimed in his first-look review, “this is the first time in a while that Dell has really impressed me with one of their portable machines.” He added, “Renders have already leaked of Dell’s as-yet-unconfirmed 7- and 10-inch Android tablets, and if they’re as good as the Streak, Dell may have another success on their hands.”
TabletPCReview’s sister site, Brighthand, will have a full review of the device in the very near future.
