Details Leak Out on Next-Generation Amazon Kindle Fire Tablets

Amazon is reportedly going to increase the screen resolution on all three of its Kindle Fire models. The new versions are expected later this year.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDThe base Kindle Fire currently has a 7-inch, 1024 x 600 display. This will go up to 1280 x 800 according to a report from BGR.

The Kindle Fire HD sports a 7-inch, 1280 x 800 screen, which is supposedly going to be replaced with a 1920 x 1200 one.

The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 will allegedly move from a 1920 x 1200 screen to a 2560 x 1600 one.

Prototype units are described as being noticeably lighter than their predecessors, with sharper edges.

Amazon’s goal is to have the new versions sell for the same prices as the current ones.

According to industry analysts, this series of Android-based tablets is the second most popular tablets on the market, after Apple’s iPad line.
