DataViz has introduced a new version of Documents To Go for the iPad and iPhone that adds support for iCloud, and has been redesigned to take better advantage of the iPad’s large screen.
The newly-released version 5 allows users to backup and save files to iCloud for storing and accessing files between iOS devices. And it offers a range of save and synchronization options — users can save and sync directly to the iOS device, a desktop via Wi-Fi, or to various cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box.net, and SugarSync.
It adds support for in-slide PowerPoint editing, so users can make changes to slide contents and formatting directly rather than in a separate/outline view. This version also includes support for viewing charts, MS Office SmartArt, and more that are embed in slides.
And it’s already iOS 7 compatible.
Expect Big Things
DataViz admits that it has not put much effort into Documents To Go over the past several years, just bug fixes and OS update support. However, this company says it is now focusing its efforts on this suite of apps, and will soon be implementing long-awaited features and user interface enhancements.
“We plan to continue developing Documents To Go as a best-in-class viewer and editor of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files,” said Bonnie Boyle, Chief Product Officer, DataViz.
A new version for Android is currently in development, and will be out before the end of the year.
Documents To Go Premium ($17) and Standard ($10) can be purchased from the App Store. Some of the new features, like iCloud support, require the Premium version.
