There’s virtually no room for doubt that Apple is going to release updated versions of its full-size and mid-size tablets. But it won’t be tomorrow.
This company is holding a press event on Tuesday, but this is expected to be devoted entirely to smartphones — the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C to be exact.
Sources of insider information from around the Web agree: there won’t be any news about the iPad 5 or the iPad mini 2 brought up at this event. That will have to wait until later… possibly until next month.
There are a couple of possible reasons for this. One is that Apple doesn’t want the furor surrounding its latest smartphones to overshadow the release of its next tablets.
In addition, unconfirmed reports indicate that while iOS 7 is going to debut in the next week or so on the iPhone 5S and 5C, the tablet version is not yet ready for release. Apple is significantly changing the design of this operating system, and simply hasn’t had enough time to finish the iPad version.
What to Expect
Although Apple is expected to stick with a 9.7-inch Retina screen in the iPad 5, rumor has it the casing will be narrower reducing the overall size of this tablet’s footprint.
Reports indicate the the iPad mini 2 will have the same overall design as the current model with one notable exception: it’s 7.9-inch display will have a much higher resolution.
