Download Windows XP SP2 (Tablet PC Edition 2004/2005) Today!

If you have ants in your pants, like to gamble and want to start enjoying the benefits of the updated Tablet PC OS today, you are in luck.  For those brave souls who want to take advantage of the substantially improved input abilities, you can start today.

The Windows XP SP2 “Technical Preview” is available.  Windows users in general are promised several overall updates to Windows XP, however Tablet PC owners are granted there wish for improved text input tools, specifically:

  • Improved handwriting recognition
  • New In Place Tablet Input Panel (TIP)
  • Handwriting recognition based on word context
  • Easier to enter web site addresses and email addresses
  • So do you have what it takes to try a beta on your Tablet?  The good news is that it does include and uninstaller.  The editorial staff here at BargainTabletPC recommends that anyone who chooses to give the fully functional preview a whirl to first do the following:

    1.  Back up your all of your valuable documents (Usually found in “My Documents”).

    2.  Set a “system restore” point manually.  (Click “Start”, “Accessories”, “System Tools” and then “System Restore”, then follow the directions.

    3.  Plan to install the update with time to spare (i.e. not just before a meeting that actually requires use of your Tablet!)

    4.  A broadband connection is recommended for this 264 MB download.

Ready to go for it?  You can grab your download here (from the folks at Tablet PC Post):

Best of luck!  And we would love to hear feedback from users taking advantage of the new improvements.
