DreamWorks Animation will soon release an Android tablet for children, dubbed the DreamTab. This will feature original DreamWorks content based on current characters, such as Shrek. The tablet will be available this spring, along with a host of accessories.

DreamWorks DreamTabAccording to The New York Times, the 8-inch tablet will go on sale for under $300. DreamWorks has partnered with Fuhu, the company behind the Nabi line of tablets to create the device.

Rumors also suggest a 12-inch version of the tablet could also be in the works.

Content will automatically be downloaded to the tablets, so it can be watched and interacted with as soon as it becomes available. According to the NYT, content is going to include a Shrek skit telling the children to shut off the tablet according to parental controls.
