First Look: Gateway M275X Tablet PC
Well our kudos to Gateway for delivering our new M275X Tablet PC on time. We ordered it last Thursday afternoon from the Gateway Country Store in Paradise Valley, AZ. It arrived at the office on Monday! Wow only 2 business day’s wait time. Not bad.
Here are some photos and first looks at the new arrival:
Okay it’s only the box. “OPEN OPEN”!!!
How about we skip the manuals and fire this baby up?
The “OOBE” (out of box experience) is easily prepared by Gateway.
Up Close and Personal
Worth the additional $100 dollars in MS licensing fee? Hmmm…
So why are these Tablets so expensive? The additional $100 Microsoft charges to licensees for the Tablet OS doesn’t help keep costs down.
We dig the purple lights!
The On-Screen keyboard ready for the pen.
The on-screen keyboard fires up immediately during the XP setup. We were wowing that!
John has lots to learn!

Ouch. What’s up with this flaw Gateway? Left side is properly adhered,
but on the right, we saw some seperation. This issue is commonly seen
on Apple iBooks as well.
The bottom line is that we are thrilled and excited with this sharp new offering from Gateway. However we did notice a bowing or seperation (right) of the frame around the display. Hard to swallow after investing $2000 on this puppy. We will at some point give Gateway a call on this.
Thin is in!
Regardless of the tiny flaw, John is so far happily computing away. The display itself is bright and clear and free of any dead pixels. We are liking that. Stay tuned for a full review of the M275X from John himself, coming right up!
