FreedomPop Now Offering Free LTE Data for Tablets

Thanks to a new FreedomPop service, users can receive free data, texting, and voice minutes on many tablets.

FreedomPop on an iPad miniFreedomPop is selling versions of Apple’s iPad mini and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 that are compatible with this service, and offers the deal to anyone who brings off-contract Sprint LTE tablets to the FreedomPop plan.

With the plan, users receive 500 MB of data, 500 text messages and 200 voice minutes, for free. Users also get a unique phone number for their tablet, and the FreedomPop Free Voice and Text app enable them to send and receive text messages and phone calls from their device.

The company hopes users will end up paying for additional services at $10 per gigabyte of data or $20 a month for unlimited voice, texts, and data.

Bring Your Own Device or Buy One from FreedomPop

While users can bring any tablet compatible with the Sprint LTE network to FreedomPop to subscribe to the free service, the company is selling refurbished 4G versions of Apple’s original iPad mini and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.

The iPad mini is available through FreedomPop with 16 GB of storage in either black and white for $319.99. The 16 GB model of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is also available in black or white for $199.99.

It’s worth noting that all LTE-enabled versions of the Apple iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display work with Sprint, as well as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Those who would prefer another carrier should be aware that T-Mobile offers 200 MB of free data on any tablet compatible with its LTE network.
