Gateway E-155C Tablet PC First Thoughts

Gateway just last week announced the E-155C into their Tablet PC family and for the past two days I have had the chance to test it first hand. First off I can tell you that the E-155C has a solid design and it performed well on the benchmarking tests considering it has integrated graphics and a Core 2 Duo ULV processor. I am not going to tell you how well, so you will have to check back next week for the complete review.

Gateway E-155C basic specs:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor U7500 (1.06GHz)
  • 1GB DDR2
  • Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
  • 80GB (5400 rpm) hard drive
  • 12.1" WXGA TFT Active Matrix display
  • Windows Vista Ultimate OS

Gateway didn’t go with the glossy piano black lid or white keyboard, just your basic flat black, which still maintains that professional appearance. It weighs in around 4.5 pounds, which is a little heavy for a 12.1" screen Tablet, but it didn’t bother me much. The E-155C converts into Tablet mode easily and even locks into place similar to the Asus R1.

My first impressions of the Tablet are good ones. It has a solid design and it doesn’t have that cheap plastic feel. As I mentioned earlier though, you will have to check back next week for the detailed review and benchmark tests.
