Gateway Tablets only Available in Retail Stores

Thanks to one of our forum members, AzureAbyss, for the tip that Gateway will no longer be stocking and selling Tablet PCs Online. It seems Gateway no longer has the C-142XL in stock and has no plans to restock it or carry any tablets Online anymore. So, if you want to purchase a Gateway tablet you will have to hit up the retail chains like Best Buy.

Unfortunately this means the Gateway Online sales reps are getting laid off and losing their jobs. Gateway’s plans to sell only at retail chains may or may not be a good decision.

Many users like Online purchasing and now this will no longer be an option, so I wonder if that means you will have to deal with Best Buy or whatever store you purchase from, if there are any problems with the tablet. Say goodbye to customer service.

Here is part of the conversation our forum member had with the Gateway sales rep discussing the future of Gateway tablets and possibly the release of the C-143XL:

TB says:

Because the C-141 sucks vs. the C-142XL. So, you are saying that there will be a more powerful version of the C-14_XL coming out to retail soon or…?

Kale (Gateway rep) says:

I’m saying basically the tablet (gateway c-series) has never been offered retail…. gateway direct…. me and where the tablet has always been offered is closing this saturday…. with that being said…

For the full conversation check out our Gateway forum and see what our forum member could get out of Kale, the Gateway sales rep. I guess Gateway is making some changes due to the Acer take-over.
