Google Adds Wish List to Google Play Store

With the holiday season right around the corner, it looks like Google is making it easier for Google Play Store users to keep track of the items they’ve been yearning for by creating a wish list within the store that allows users to bookmark their favorites for another time.

Google PlayThe new function comes with the latest update of the application to 3.9.16, which also brings the recently discovered malware scanning code. While Google usually pushes the framework for a new feature and then launches it a later point, giving the company plenty of time to work out any kinks, surprisingly, “My Wish List” is already working.

The new icon is located at the top of the menu bar in the Google Play app, offering users an easy outlet for adding their favorite items to their wish list, while the drop-down menu on Google Play now also includes a new entry for “My Wishlist,” which shows users their entire collection of desirables. Any item throughout Google Play can be added to a wish list, with marked items color suited by category and price so users can distinguish the type easily when viewing their list.

The function only serves as a bookmark currently, meaning users can’t share their list with others as “subtle” hints of future gifts. Yet, since Google didn’t officially announce the availability of “My Wish List,” the company is likely still working on it, with the finished product hopefully bringing a sharing or gifting feature like Amazon and Apple offer.

As always Google Play Store users won’t have to do much to enable the new feature, simply just wait for the update to hit your device, then voil? you have full functionality of “My Wish List.”
