HP has recently introduced an update that brings the HP Movie Store app online, providing users with the ability to view movies and television shows.

HP Movie Store appOwners of the TouchPad, only in the U.S. at this time, can access this update through the App Catalog. Powered by RoxioNow, the HP Movie Store, allows movie viewing in the form of rentals and purchases. The library also includes television shows in addition to movies.

Prices tend to vary, with rentals ranging from $2.99 to $3.99 and movie purchases being anywhere from $9.99 and higher, depending on the title and release date. Movie rentals are based on a 24-hour viewing period. Television shows will rent for $1.99 per episode.

This is the second app to launch for the TouchPad this week, as Amazon’s beta Kindle app was introduced to owners as a functioning application rather than a teasing placeholder.
