The TouchPad may be discontinued but it’s not dead yet as HP plans to release one last batch of the webOS tablet.

HP TouchPadThe company kept mum on any specifics, such as when these units will be available or how many will be produced, but HP did assure customers that it would be a few weeks before they can purchase the device. The company also stated the new lot of TouchPads will only be available in North America, with no additional products available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

HP will manufacture the limited quantity of tablets during its fourth fiscal quarter, which ends Oct. 31. As for where the slates can be purchased, HP asked consumers to contact their local retailers to verify, however the company did say its Small and Medium Business team has sold out of the device and will not be receiving more inventory.

The $99 fire sale of the TouchPad, which came a day after HP discontinued all webOS operations, was met by hoards of consumers yearning for the discounted tablet.  Despite webOS hardware getting the axe, the TouchPad is set to receive an OTA update that will enhance the tablet’s app catalog, among other features.

This news comes soon after HP exec, Todd Bradley, announced the TouchPad could be resurrected possibly after a spinoff of the company’s Personal Systems Group is created.
