With its TouchPad on the market since July 1, HP has just released an OTA update for the device, as well as lowered its price.
The update to webOS 3.0.2 will appear automatically for TouchPad owners and features improvements to text input auto correction in addition to the inclusion of wallpaper support and better photo handling. Other improvements include faster email scrolling, improved email display, and enhanced email draft and outbox multiple message management.
The webOS web browser has also been refined with increased scrolling support, better HTML5 video playback, and improved browser auto correction. The oversensitive screen rotation has also been fixed in addition to a handful of security patches.
The calendar app has also been enhanced, quickening the process when adding new events and searching through existing appointments. HP claims the update will also reduce audio skipping when the 1.5GHz dual-core processor is running other functions.
If the update doesn’t appear automatically, users can access it by going to Launcher – Setting – Updates, though the TouchPad needs to be 50 percent charged to install the update. All the webOS 3.0.2 details can be found here. Along with the improved system, HP is currently offering a $50 price cut for the TouchPad, knocking it down to $449 for the 16GB unit and $549 for the 32GB version.
