Of all the leaks leading up to the HP TouchPad unveiling, price and release date information were not included. HP was also especially vague regarding the details at the TouchPad launch event, only claiming the Wi-Fi webOS tablet will arrive in the summer, with a 3G/4G unit shipping soon after.
That has changed now that BGR is claiming the HP TouchPad will launch in June for $699.
The price puts the TouchPad right in the middle of upcoming high-profile tablets in terms of price. Earlier this week, BlackBerry PlayBook pricing leaked, indicating the RIM tablet will launch at $500. That comes on the heels of reports indicated the Motorola Xoom Honeycomb tablet will cost $799 at launch.
Sporting a 9.7-inch display with a 1024 x 768 resolution, the TouchPad will be powered by a 1.2 GHz, dual-core Snapdragon processor, the TouchPad will have 1GB of memory. For storage, customers will have the option to choose between a 16GB and a 32GB model.
The TouchPad will also feature a front-facing camera , and other features include Flash-readiness, Beats audio, and a built-in gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass. The webOS tablet will weigh 1.5 pounds, and will be 13.7 mm thick.
