The HTC Flyer tablet is now available for preorder from Best Buy. The seven-inch Android tablet is priced $500 and does not ship with the supported N-trig stylus. As previously reported, the stylus is sold separately for $80.
The HTC Flyer will ship with Android version 2.3 (Gingbread), and the HTC user interface. While Sprint reps confirmed the 4G version, the HTC EVO View 4G, will either ship with Honeycomb in June or receive it as an update, it’s unclear whether the Wi-Fi Flyer will also be upgraded to Honeycomb.
The seven-inch tablet will also have HTC Scribe technology that works with the N-trig active stylus. This includes support for note taking and paint/art apps. It also sports a 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, 1024 x 600 resolution, dual cameras (five-megapixel rear, 1.3-megapixel front), b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, Flash support, 16GB memory, MHL port, DLNA support.
In addition to being the first Android tablet to ship with active pen support, it is also one of the few tablets with a single-core processor.
TabletPCReview has spent time with both the EVO View 4G and HTC Flyer. Expect a full review in the coming weeks.
