Today, Huawei took the wraps off the next addition to its tablet family, the Media Pad 7 Lite. This ultra-portable tablet is the second big announcement from Huawei today, as the China-based company also unveiled its newest handset, the Ascend G600.
Though the MediaLite 7 will come in a sleek 370g metal unibody shell, it will not be giving up any power with its 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor. The portable tablet will sport a 7-inch IP 1080p high definition display with 1024 x 600 resolution.
The tablet will be 3G and Wi-Fi cellular enabled, and will provide SMS and MMS capabilities. Additionally the device will sport a 3.2 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera.
Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Device, believes that this small tablet is the answer to consumers’ demands; he explains:
“Good things come in small packages. The MediaPad 7 Lite is our answer to consumers’ demands for a good-looking, portable high-performance tablet at a price that makes sense for them. The MediaPad 7 Lite is consumers’ perfect entertainment and communications companion.”
The tablet is set to begin shipping in South Africa, China, Russia, Philippines and Taiwan starting at the end of this month; and in Indonesia and Maylsia starting in September. Unfortunately, as with the Ascend G600, there is no information as to when or if this device will reach the United States.
