Pics of a purported iPad 3 case are giving more credence to previous reports that the next-generation iPad will be a thicker device with a larger camera hole.
MIC Gadget is reporting that the difference between the two cases is between 1 and 1.5mm. The thicker case on the iPad 3 is to accommodate for the larger battery that will be used to power the high-density display and perhaps the LTE antenna. Although the overall case is thicker, the photos show that the top glass panel on the iPad 3 could be slightly thinner.
The camera hole of the iPad 3 is significantly larger than its predecessor as well, and this is further evidence the iPad 3 will have an improved camera, perhaps with 8 megapixels. Speculation suggests that the iPad 3 camera will match that found on the iPhone 4S.
Additionally, it looks like the iPad 3 will have chrome or brushed aluminum volume keys as opposed to the current black plastic keys found on the iPad 2.
