How’s this for an interesting Apple iPad rumor? Apple may release its successor, the iPad 4, sooner than expected.
Take it with a grain a salt, but the rumormongers at the DigiTimes are reporting that Apple will indeed release the iPad 4 in October 2012. According to sources in Taiwan, the iPad 4 will ship early in order to compete with the Google tablet and Windows 8, as well as new components from Intel and others.
These same sources say that the 9.7-inch iPad 4 will be complete with “killer applications” and improved hardware.
Sources speculate that Apple will still continue with its usual schedule by releasing the iPad 3 in March 2012. The iPad 3 will come with a 1536 x 2048-pixel display and extended battery life. However, Apple is expected to keep the iPad 2 on the market selling it at a reduced price in order to compete with the Kindle Fire and other low-cost Android tablets.
