There were 17 million Apple iPads sold in the second quarter of this year, a year-over-year increase of 84%, and the highest number ever sold in Q2.
Tablet sales brought in $9 billion in revenue — just over 25% of Apple’s total revenue for the quarter. This company’s mobile products brought in the lion’s share of revenue, with 46% of its revenue coming from the 26 million iPhones sold.
And that’s just from hardware sales. Apple had $2.1 billion in revenue from music, apps, and books sold through iTunes.
April-June was the first complete quarter since the third-generation iPad was introduced, likely leading to such strong sales. There might be another such quarter coming up if Apple launches the iPad Mini that has been the subject of so many rumors of late
