Samsung designed and manufactured the first Nexus 10 for Google, but Asus might make the second version.
Best Buy employees report seeing an unfinished entry in their company’s product database for a Google Nexus 10 made by Asus. Such early product entries aren’t unusual, but they aren’t always reliable either.
Does this Make Sense?
Asus is the company behind the original Google Nexus 7 and the recently-released Nexus 7 II, so it’s certainly not impossible that it is also going to make the second-generation 10-inch Nexus as well.
Google supposedly has a competitive process in which device makers bring their designs for upcoming Nexus products and Google chooses which one it prefers. So the fact that Samsung made the last Nexus 10 doesn’t automatially mean it will produce the next one.
On the other hand, a reporter with the Wall Street Journal recently said that he was told by Sundar Pichai, the man in charge of Android development and all Nexus products at Google, that Samsung would be making the Nexus 10 II.
This full-size tablet is expected to be out this fall. It might launch running Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie).
