Kno has finally announced pricing and availability for the student-aimed Kno tablet. The single-screen device will go for $599 while the dual-screen Kno will costs $899.
The folks at Know claim the device will start shipping by year’s end, but only in limited quantities.
Kno CEO Osman Rashid says the investment is a no-brainer as it brings back a return after just three semesters of schooling.
“When you do the math, it actually pays for itself and still saves $1,300 in digital textbook costs,” he said.
According to Kno, consumers can save 35% on textbooks if buying them in digital form via the Kno bookstore, which will be available on the educational device.
The Kno blends multimedia and reading capabilities on a 14-inch LCD(s) to support educational learning.
According to some statistics, the Kno might do well in the education market. Demand for such devices among the college-aged group appears to be on the rise as it is believed that 50% of college students plan to have an eReader by next year. Furthermore, Kno’s own research concludes that 11% of textbook sales will come from tablets by 2013.
Earlier, Rashid predicted that 95% of textbooks will be able to properly display on the Kno.
