CES 2013Lenovo is thinking big. Really big. It’s prepping a tablet with a display that’s no less than 27 inches.

The company calls the IdeaCentre Horizon a “table PC”, and doesn’t expect anyone sane to carry this device around — it will weigh 17.8 pounds. Instead, it will be kept in one spot like a desktop computer, and will be used by the whole family.

Or it can be a gaming console. Lenovo has created a number of games for it, and the device will be sold with two air hockey paddles, two joysticks, and a six-sided die. These will be able to interect directly with the capacitive display.

Lenovo IdeaCentre HorizonThis behemoth is going to run Windows 8. And there will be a range of processor options, from an Intel Core i3 to a Core i7. The i3 version will go for $1000, while the top-end version will be $1700.

On top of Windows 8 will be a finger-friendly alternate user interface called Aura, which will open whenever the tablet is laid flat.

A number of other companies have experimented with large tablets in the past, but this one will top them all.

Lenovo says it plans to introduce the IdeaCentre Horizon this summer.

This device is being demoed at CES 2013 in Las Vegas this week, and TabletPCReview is endeavoring to get some hands-on time.
