There’s been no official confirmation yet, but rumor has it that the LG G-Slate will be released by T-Mobile on April 20. This is a bit later than the originally expected March 23 date, but it will still hit store shelves before the Motorola Xoom even gets its 4G boost.
We were able to get a taste of the LG G-Slate at the Mobile World Congress, where our European correspondent had hands-on time with the device. He left with mixed feelings, concluding that the G-Slate had impressive hardware and was well-served by its 8.9-inch screen size, but disappointed by the unfinished feeling of the Honeycomb OS and the fact that the G-Slate’s 3D imaging would require glasses.
The last set of reports/leaks indicated that the 4G G-Slate will cost $700 at launch.
Also, the G-Slate will be hitting the market just in time to avoid this summer’s tablet avalanche, which, according to one broad (and vague) leaked document, could include June releases from HTC, Dell, Acer, Toshiba and HP.
