What’s up with LG? First the company announces the tablet it won’t release, then a Windows 7 tablet PC leaks online, and now an unnamed official has gone on the record and revealed LG’s Android tablet plans.
“LG Electronics decided to launch a new tablet PC, so-called LG Pad, both in the domestic and overseas markets in the first quarter of the next year when Google unveils Honeycomb, tablet PC-version Android OS,” an anonymous LG senior official reportedly stated according to the Korean-language site MK.
The report also states the LG Pad will sport an 8.9-inch screen, effectively splitting the difference in size between the seven-inch Galaxy Tab and 9.7-inch iPad. The LG Android tablet will also feature a Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor. In addition, the LG Pad will be targeted at the European and North American markets.
However, don’t get your hopes up for an LG tablet just yet. Endgadget reached out to LG for comment, and the Korean-based tech giant had nothing to say on the record.
