Solution hardware manufacturer Axiotron, Inc. and technology solutions provider Other World Computing (OWC) announced they will be unveiling the ModBook, the first ever Mac Tablet computer solution, on January 9, at the Macworld Conference & Expo. Rumors surrounding the first Mac Tablet have been flying around for sometime now and everyone wonders if they are true. With the way things are looking, it seems the rumors may be put to rest, but not by Apple.
The ModBook is a slate-style Tablet featuring WACOM Penabled hardware for true pen input and is fully compatible with Apple’s Inkwell, a Mac OS X Tiger feature that provides system level handwriting and gesture recognition to all Mac applications. The ModBook’s slim slate design makes it the ultimate companion for artists, students and other mobile users. Axiotron and OWC also managed to include a GPS option in their ModBook and an anonymous tipster tells us that it will be covered under Apple’s standard warranty.
No word on pricing or the exact date the ModBook will be available, but we know it will be available in the U.S. sometime due to the arrangement between Axiotron and OWC. So far that is all the information we have, but we will keep you up to date as soon as we learn more when the ModBook is officially unveiled.
