Have you been considering getting a Microsoft Surface RT but held off because you were looking for a great deal? Now is your chance.

Microsoft Surface RTThe 32GB version of Microsoft’s tablet that runs Windows 8 RT is now $350. Before today it was $500. The 64GB version is $500, down from $650.

The prices don’t include an external keyboard. But this is apparently not a limited time offer — the prices for these products seem to have permanently dropped.

Microsoft isn’t the only one to cut the price of a Windows 8 RT-based tablet, as the Dell XPS 10 is now going for $300.

This doesn’t mean, however, that the Microsoft Surface Pro has seen a price cut. That tablet running the regular version of Windows 8 still starts at $900.

Windows 8 RT vs. Windows 8

Windows 8 RT is an alternate version of Microsoft’s flagship operating system that runs on ARM processors, not x86 ones. Devices running this OS generally cost less and have longer battery lives, but can not run software written for previous versions of Windows.
