Microsoft Has Run Out of Pre-Launch Supply of Some Surface Pro 2 Versions

Demand for the second-generation Surface tablet is strong enough that pre-orders placed now for some versions won’t ship on launch day — shoppers will need to wait until the second shipment of these devices arrives.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2The Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 were unveiled last month, and initial pre-orders will begin shipping Oct. 21 for arrival on people’s doorsteps the next day. However, orders placed today from the Microsoft Store for some versions won’t ship until later in the month.

The 64GB version of the Surface Pro 2 is still available for shipment on launch date, but orders placed now for the the 128GB version won’t ship until Oct 25. The wait for the 256GB and 512GB versions is even longer: Oct. 29.

New orders for the 64GB version of the Windows RT 8.1-powered Surface 2 won’t ship until Oct. 25, but the 32GB version is available to ship on launch day.
