Those who wish to upgrade their tablet from Windows RT to Windows RT 8.1 can do so again. Microsoft has fixed a problem that caused the company to pull the upgrade off its website a few days ago.
The new version is available once again in the Microsoft Store.
What Went Wrong?
Shortly after this upgrade was released last week, users began to report that during the installation process they encountered the dreaded “Blue Screen of Death”. According to a statement from Microsoft, the problem was the result of “a rare situation where firmware updates had not completed at the time of the update to RT 8.1.”
This issue affected only the Microsoft Surface RT, not other devices running this operating system.
