Microsoft and Best Buy have announced a partnership that will see 500 Microsoft stores opening inside Best Buy locations in the U.S.
These will sell the Microsoft Surface, Windows Phones, and other computers running Microsoft’s operating systems.
The company isn’t thinking small. The store-within-a-store locations will be up to 2,200 square feet and will employ 1,200 people in two countries.
The goal is to get the latest Windows-based devices in front of as many shoppers as possible. Best Buy is the No. 1 retailer of PCs in the world, and Microsoft wants its customers to be thinking about Windows products rather than Apple iPads or Android tablets.
