Microsoft has fulfilled a promise it made last year by introducing a new version of the Surface 2 that can connect to AT&T’s 4G LTE network.

Microsoft Surface 2 with AT&T 4G LTEThe broadband version of this Windows RT-based tablet comes with 64GB of internal storage, and costs $680.

A WiFi-only version of this tablet was introduced last year, but the new one has nearly ubiquitous access to high-speed internet access. Getting LTE support will add $130 to the price of the device.

It is available at Microsoft retail stores and as well as and all Best Buy stores. It will apparently not be sold at AT&T’s stores.

No LTE-Enabled Surface Pro 2

Although the 4G version of the Surface 2 is now available, Microsoft has never said anything about an LTE-enabled version of the Surface Pro 2

This is somewhat curious, as the Surface Pro 2 is the more business-oriented tablet in Microsoft’s product lineup, and businesspeople are the ones more likely to pay extra for access to a cellular-wireless data connection.
