Microsoft is close to introducing an 8-inch version of the Surface tablet, according to an unconfirmed report. This may be the low-price model many are hoping for.
Not many details on this device have come to light yet, but it will allegedly cost between $250 and $300. At this price, the device will likely run Windows RT. Microsoft uses Intel processors in its current Windows 8 model, and these are not cheap.
This report from DigiTimes slightly contradicts an earlier one which indicated that the smaller Surface will have a 7.5-inch display.
The smaller version of the Microsoft Surface will supposedly launch in June, possibly at its Build conference which kicks off June 26.
A Bigger Brother?
DigiTimes is also reporting that Microsoft is prepping a replacement for the current 10.6-inch version of the Surface for release possibly before September. This might have a slightly smaller display than its predecessor, but no other details are available at this time.
