Where have we heard this before? DigiTimes is reporting that Google will ship its 7-inch tablet in June with initial shipments to hit about 600,000 units.
Although it will ship in June, sources claim that the tablet will not hit store shelves until July at the earliest. Previous rumors suggested Google may also sell the tablet online though its Google Play Store. Rumor has it that Google is currently working with ASUS to create their own tablet and hoped to have released it in May. However, designs and costs were not up to par with expectations and it was delayed until July.
We’ve reported before that the device slated for May was a 7-inch Wi-Fi tablet with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which sounds exactly like the MeMO tablet ASUS and NVIDIA showed off at CES 2012.
It is speculated that the Google tablet will come with a price tag ranging anywhere from $150 to $200.
Like all DigiTimes reports, take it as a grain of salt, but this one doesn’t seem so outlandish. We’ve speculated recently that the Google tablet could make its debut at Computex in early June.
