A promotional video that shows off some of the features of Motorola’s Droid smartphones also hints that this company is close to releasing a tablet.

Motorola Mystery TabletThe 4-minute video, called “The Drop”, is a spy-vs-spy adventure with an agent using his Droid phone as he attempts to pass on a mysterious package without it being intercepted.

The package is shown several times, and it looks quite a bit like a case for a tablet.

Motorola’s CEO said recently that his company is working on a tablet, although Dennis Woodside declines to give any details about the plans.

As “The Drop” was co-produced by Verizon, it’s clear that this telcom will be releasing the device, and an LTE version is likely.

There have been Droid tablets in the past, but none were notably successful. Still, Motorola was acquired by Google last year and the two are said to be collaborating on a number of devices.
