The good news: Motorola tablets will receive the ICS update. The bad news: it may not happen until Q3.

Motorla confirmed that the Motorola Xoom Family Edition, the Motorola Xyboard 8.2 (Wi-Fi), the Motorola Xyboard 10.1 (Wi-Fi), the Droid Xyboard 8.2 (Verizon), the Droid Xyboard 10.1 (Verizon), and the Verizon Motorola Xoom 3G/4G will receive the update.

Motorola has already updated the Wi-Fi Xoom to Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.

Motorola Xoom Family Edition customers will be able to receive the update as early as the second quarter of 2012. Both versions of the Motorola Xyboard will have the ICS update rolled out in the third quarter of the year.

The Droid Xyboard 8.2, Droid Xyboard 10.1, and the Verizon Xoom tablets do not have a definite date for when they will receive the ICS update. Since these tablets are all Verizon Wireless devices, Motorola has to work with the carrier on the update. On Motorola’s release schedule, those tablets have “Further details to follow” under expected timing.

We will keep you updated on when these updates will be released to those devices.
