Despite having just announced the HTC Flyer, the first entry into the tablet market by the popular smartphone maker, HTC CEO Peter Chou has already hinted that the Taiwanese company is thinking bigger.
Chou referred to tablet sales as “extremely important” for HTC’s development, and was asked today at the Mobile World Congress Chou if HTC might have something larger in the pipeline than just the seven-inch Flyer. His response: “We’re working on several form factors.”
There’s obviously a market for larger tablets, and if HTC really wants to break into the tablet industry, a 10-inch model might be requisite.
Right now it seems that a 10-inch model is just a likely concept, and Chou did not make any promises or give hard details. The 7-inch Flyer will be seen Q2 of this year, a release that will directly pit itself against the HP TouchPad, BlackBerry PlayBook and a host of Honeycomb tablets.
