Lenovo Announces Battery Recall
Lenovo, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, announced today the voluntary recall of approximately 205,000 extended-life, 9-cell battery packs. Lenovo will offer customers free-of-charge replacements for all recalled battery packs. It has been confirmed that notebooks containing the recalled battery packs may overheat, posing a potential safety hazard to users.
The battery packs were sold with new notebooks or as optional or replacement battery packs on the models listed below.
- R60 and R60e Series
- T60 and T60p Series
- Z60m, Z61e, Z61m and Z61p Series
These models may have shipped with either regular or extended-life, 9-cell battery packs and only some of the larger extended-life, 9-cell battery packs with the part number FRU P/N 92P1131 are being recalled.

Gigabyte to Debut its First UMPC at CeBit
The Gigabyte U60 UMPC will have a built-in QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the main body, a 6.5-inch screen, a 1.8″ 20GB and 30GB HDD, Wi-Fi b/g, 2 USB ports and SD/MMC memory card reader. No word yet on pricing or availability, but with CeBit around the corner I am sure we will find out the rest of the specs soon.
Amtek’s T770 Vistagami UMPC
Looking a little different then what was originally spotted at CES, with its black housing the T770 is making its way to the market. Amtek’s T770 will be sporting a few new features compared to its predecessor the T700.
