New Nvidia 9400M may take 20% market share

The new Nvidia GeForce 9400M integrated graphics chip, launched with the new Apple Macbook earlier this month, will soon be seen in notebooks from other manufacturers including Asustek, Acer, HP, and Dell. According to a DigiTimes report, Nvidia could take a 20% share of the Intel notebook platform market with this chip.

Microsoft talks about ‘Cloud’ operating system

Microsoft announced recently that it will be introducing a ‘cloud’ operating system that will “manage the relationship between software inside the computer and on the Web.” The new OS will go on sale towards the end of 2009.

Vista SP2 beta coming soon

Microsoft announced on its Windows Blog that it will soon be releasing Windows Vista Service Pack 2 to beta testers. Vista SP2 will include the following features:

Windows Vista SP2 contains changes focused on supporting new types of hardware and adding support for several emerging standards:

  • Windows Vista SP2 adds Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved relevancy in searches.
  • Windows Vista SP2 contains the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack supporting the most recent specification for Bluetooth Technology.
  • Ability to record data on to Blu-Ray media natively in Windows Vista.
  • Adds Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify Wi-Fi Configuration.
  • Windows Vista SP2 enables the exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps, which allows correct file synchronization across time zones.
