Chipmaker AMD to Buy Graphics Giant ATI

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is making a move to sting arch rival Intel Corp. with plans to purchase ATI Technologies Inc. In a deal for the $5.4 million acquisition of ATI, AMD will become much more than just a maker of CPU’s for computers, but will gain the ability to manufacture more complete high-performance integrated hardware solutions.

ATI gained 5% more points in the overall market share against Intel recently due to the successful launch of several product lines. How much further AMD will move on with its new potential. Read more…



Diskeeper Celebrates 25 Years in the “Defragmentation Business”

Executive Software is celebrating 25 years in the business today. In a press release issued early Monday, the nolstagic story of the maker of the popular Diskeeper disk defragmentation software was revealed to the public.

“It was July of 1981 and Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” was ruling the radio airwaves. But company founder, Craig Jensen, was busy programming away five years before his award-winning Diskeeper was even born. Originally named Executive Software, the company’s first product was called EXECMail, an electronic mail system whose clients includes Xerox, Icicle Foods, the US Navy Reserve and a humble first year’s earnings of $90,000. eFlyBook Tablet Computer for Pilots



A new tablet computer designed just for use by aviation industry has been released by ARINC Incorporated. The “eFlyBook” stores charts, terminal procedures and airport directories in a compact tablet computer. The eFlyBook was specially designed for use on aircraft and for extended use for long flights.
