Firefox 2.0 Set for Tuesday Release

Following on the heals of Microsoft’s release of Internet Explorer 7 last week, the Mozilla organization is on track to release the final version of Firefox 2.0. A company spokeswoman said that last week’s RC3 was well received by users and that the release version will be basically the RC3 rebranded as verion 2.0. Flyingmag.com Tablet PC Contest

The folks over at Flyingmag.com have a contest running at the moment that offers a chance to win an Anywhere Map electronic flight bag (EFB) featuring a Motion Computing LS800 Tablet PC decked out with the latest software for pilots, a package worth $4,350. No purchase is necessary, and the official rules can be found on the website. The contest runs from October 20 through November 22.

XP Service Pack 3 Only in 2008

A lot of people probably won’t be jumping on the Vista bandwagon until they’re comfortable all the bugs have been worked out. Which means a large part of the computing population will remain with XP for a while. In January Microsoft had stated that XP SP3 would be released in the latter half of 2007. A visit to their Microsoft Service Pack Roadmap page now indicates that the SP won’t be released until 2008. The SP is expected to be mainly security fixes and not contain many feature updates.
