IE 7 Available for Download: Vulnerabilities Found Already

IE 7 is finally available for general consumption. Micrsoft made the latest rendition of its internet browser available for download on Wednesday. Announced in 2005, the browser will bring Microsoft up to date with tabbed browsing and other features that its competitors have had for some time. The new browser has been touted as being more secure, but internet security firm Secunia has already discovered a vulnerability in the new software.

Quanta Teams With Intel and Yahoo for UMPC Entry

Quanta Computer, one of the world’s largest contract Tablet PC and Notebook manufacturers has announced its entry into the UMPC market. The Quanta UMPC uses a reference design from Intel and incorporates Yahoo’s Go internet software (designed jointly with intel to deliver digital entertainment on devices that use Intel Viiv technology).

In a sign of how closely the companies are working together, Intel showed off the new UMPC at the Fall Intel Developer Forum in Taipei this week. Intel refused to disclose further specs but did say the unit runs on Microsoft’s Windows XP Tablet Edition. Read more…

 

2.8 Pound LG C1 Ultraportable Tablet

LG has announced two new XNote ultraportable notebooks. Of particular interest to us Tablet PC fans will be the convertible C1. The full specs aren’t out yet but the unit sports:

  • 1.2GHz Core Duo processor
  • 64MB GeForce 7300 Go graphics
  • 10.6-inch 1,366 x 768 displays
  • WiBro, HSDPA and DMB
  • The best part is that the C1 weighs in at only 2.8 pounds. No info on when or if these units will ever be avaible in the west.
