Samsung UMPC Available on May 1st



If you got $1200 burning a hole in your pocket, Samsung will have their first Ultra Mobile PC available for purchase on May 1st. At 1.7lbs., that’s roughly 3-4 times more expensive than a Tablet PC (per pound) – lol. There are many early adopters hot to get their hands on this baby, so get ready for the lines! Read more



Tablet PC to Replace Textbooks – Says Bill G.

It was reported that Bill Gates made a statement last Friday that Tablet PCs will someday replace textbooks for all students. This comment is certainly consistent with past comments made by Bill Gates in his enthusiastic campaign to promote the platform. We say keep it going Bill! It is ludicrous that the replacement of overpriced and outdated textbooks has not already begun in today’s age of rapid change and information.

“We do see, over time, that the ink input for the tablet and speech input will become as important as the keyboard, not replacing it but equally important.” Gates said at a news conference here.

“In fact, we see a day where every student, instead of their textbooks, will simply have their tablet computer connected up to the wireless Internet,” he said. “And so the teacher can customize the material, they can quiz the student. That student can have that tablet with them wherever they go and it’s actually lighter than the textbooks and more flexible, richer in terms of what it can offer.”
