Before the IFA consumer-electronics conference in Berlin this week, Samsung is already set to impress by announcing its new supersized Galaxy Player 5.8.? The new multimedia player will offer and impressive 5.8-inch display that encroaches on mini-tablet territory. ?
Unfortunately at this point there has been no mention as to what this device will cost or when it will be released. However, Samsung is scheduled to host a press conference at the IFA on Wednesday, so all of this is subject to change.
While the Galaxy Player 5.8 will dwarf the older models; such as the Galaxy Player 4.2 and Galaxy Player 3.6, it also outperforms them offering a 960×540 screen resolution, and a 16:9 aspect ratio. In addition the device will house Android 4.0 OS (Ice Cream Sandwich), along with a 2,500 mAh battery, a microSD card, and 802.11 b/g/n wireless networking.
The tablet is also going to?offer full GPS support, a front-facing video camera, and a built-in portal that offers multimedia material such as lectures (making it perfect for students).
While the complete details regarding the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 have yet to be revealed, it is important to note that simularly-sized tabletphones such as Samsung’s Galaxy Note will offer a lot of the same functionality, not to mention the added benefit of cellular service as well. Additionally the next generatoion of models are right around the corner with impressive devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is expected to release as early as October.
If you find looking for functionality outside of your mobile device, the new Galaxy Player may prove a good bet, as the new 5.8-inch display does make it more appealing for watching movies and playing games.
