There aren’t many options these days for those who want a tablet running Windows RT, but the number is supposedly going to grow a bit when Nokia introduces a mid-size model early next year.
Microsoft is currently the only company who offers devices with Windows RT: the new Microsoft Surface 2 and last year’s Surface RT.
However, Nokia recently unveiled the Lumia 2520, a 10.1-inch model that will run this alternate version of Windows (shown at right).
And if unconfirmed reports are correct, Nokia isn’t stopping there — an 8-inch tablet code-named “Illusionist” is also in development.
Even if it wasn’t just a rumor, the fate of this second tablet would be uncertain as Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Nokia and it’s not clear whether the Surface line or the Lumia tablet series will survive this process.
Rumor indicates that Microsoft is prepping its own 8-inch tablet, typically refered to as the Suface Mini.
