OtterBox is offering up a little iPad armor with two new cases for Apple’s tablet that the company is touting as “triple layered protection.” The Defender and Commuter Series are designed to increase the portability of one of the most versatile products on the market and offer some innovative features as well.
The Defender Series iPad case includes a two-piece polycarbonate shell with soft felt, a silicone outer skin, and self adhering screen protector. An additional cover can also be used to snap over the face to protect the display, or function as a built-in stand. The bottom contains grip pads so the device will not shift on a flat surface.
The Commuter Series also contains a self-contained screen protector, and wraps the device in silicone and a one piece polycarbonate shell that snaps over the outside. The layers are designed to both protect the iPad, and allow it to easily slide out of a backpack or briefcase.
Both decrease the chances of a broken iPad, offering drop, dust, and shock protection. The Defender is $90, Commuter $65. Both are available on the OtterBox website.
