The Pantech Element, an 8-inch splashproof tablet, is now available for pre-order from AT&T, confirming previous reports that the nation’s second largest mobile carrier would be adding the tablet to its lineup.
While no AT&T stores have received demo models as of yet, the tablet is set to start shipping on Jan. 22 and retails for $300 with a two-year contract and $450 without. The most interesting feature of the Element is its ability to withstand splashes of water, as long as the ports are covered, however the tablet cannot survive total submergence. The tablet will ship with Android Honeycomb 3.2 and will pack a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Additionally, the device will sport front-and rear-facing digicams and will have 16GB of storage.
